Radio Silence

Sorry I've been a bit quiet on here for a while now. This is for two reasons:

1. I've been working on a big review of the decade - 200 best albums and 50 best films.

2. I've been busy with the Write Stuff journalism course organised by Serious and Jazzwise magazine. I'll publish a full diary of my London Jazz Festival week here in due course. In the meantime, here's a link to my rapturous review of John Surman at the Queen Elizabeth Hall last night:

To quench your thirst for new content just a little, here's a hint at what I've been/will be listening to:

Kit Downes Trio - Golden (Basho)
Gwilym Simcock - Blues Vignette (Basho)
Memory Tapes - Seek Magic (Something In Construction)
Califone - All My Friends Are Funeral Singers (Dead Oceans)
Molina and Johnson - Molina and Johnson (Secretly Canadian)
Tom Waits - Glitter and Doom Live (Anti)
REM - Live At The Olympia (Warner Bros)
Dave Rawlings Machine - A Friend of A Friend (Acony)
Elvis Costello - Live At The El Mocambo (Universal)

Five of the jazz releases on this list are likely to feature in my end of year list so I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.
